Former AC Milan wonderkid Alexandre Pato has already expressed his desire to move to the English Premier League, and reports in the UK now suggest that he prefers moving to Chelsea FC over Liverpool FC
Several top Premier League sides are on the lookout for a striker in the January transfer window, and due to a dearth of world class strikers on the market, many are looking for a cut-price, value-for-money deal.
As such, former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has been linked to the likes of Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC, with the Brazilian rediscovering his goalscoring form and maintaining his fitness at São Paulo, where he scored 26 goals in 59 appearances.
A report in the UK’s Independent newspaper suggests that the 26-year-old prefers a move to London rather than Liverpool, and with his current contract set to expire in December, the striker is said to be available for a fee of around £11 million.
Earlier, Pato revealed: “I don’t think the physical part of English football would be a problem. When you get the ball, you need to be ready. The defenders here are very tough but I like that. I have spoken to Willian, Firmino, Coutinho and David Luiz before.”
Torres, Falcao, now Pato?
If reports of the Blues’ interest in Pato are true, it appears that Chelsea FC have a thing for strikers that have suffered from major injuries and seem to be past their best. Fernando Torres’ time at Stamford Bridge was a disaster, and if anything, Radamel Falcao’s has been worse. Pato is still only 26 years old, but very much falls into the same category. Brazilian football is extremely different to the Premier League, and the Blues must learn their lesson from history and look for alternatives.
