Manchester United Want To Break ‘Duck’ Against ‘Ghost Team’, Says Louis Van Gaal

Ahead of the match against Swansea City FC, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wants to put the smiles back on the faces of fans and break his ‘duck’ against a ‘ghost team’.

Swansea City have won all 3 of their previous encounters against Manchester United, including a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture of this season back in August, and this is perhaps what Van Gaal was referring to, a club that haunts him and the Red Devils, when he called them a ‘ghost’ team ahead of the match.

.

a Swansea have been what I call my ghost team, meaning we are looking to start this new year with what I have been told you say in England by breaking the duck.”, said the Dutchman, according to The Guardian.

a We know it will be tough and know we have to be creative and take our chances if we are going to end this run without a win. And that is the aim a to put smiles back on the faces of the staff, the players and the fans.

Look back in sadness

Van Gaal also spoke about the disappointing year Manchester United have had in 2015 and how the year ended on a sour note. He said, a The past year was one full of mixed emotions and we did not finish 2015 on a high as wea d have hoped. A goalless draw at home to Chelsea was disappointing, especially given the chances we had to kill the game.”

But the Dutchman acknowledged that the fans were helping the players gain back the confidence that they are lacking in after so many bad results, with their unwavering support.
