Twitter reacts to yet another record-breaking Cristiano Ronaldo achievement as Real Madrid put EIGHT past MalmAi??

Real Madrid ended their Champions League group stage fixtures in style, scoring EIGHT goals past a hapless Malm FF, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring four goals in the rout

Although Real Madrid have not had the best of seasons thus far, things have been looking up over the past few days after the humiliation of the Copa del Rey disqualification. Los Blancos closed the gap to La Liga leaders FC Barcelona over the weekend to four points after the Catalans were held to a draw by Valencia, while the 8-0 victory on Tuesday will no doubt be another big boost to the morale.

Frenchman Karim Benzema continued his excellent recent form by following Saturday’s brace against Getafe with a hat-trick against the Swedish side, but the limelight was firmly on one man after the win.

Fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo record

With his four goals on Tuesday night, the Portuguese took his tally of Champions League goals this season to an incredible 11 in 6 games — the most at this stage in the competition’s history. In the process, he also became the first man to reach double figures in the group stages alone.

There was plenty of admiration for his sheer goalscoring prowess on Twitter, but some also pointed out that Ronaldo was unable to score in the two biggest games in the group stage — Paris Saint-Germain home and away.

.

Meanwhile, Benzema also received praise for his performance, with the France international going through a difficult period mentally because of his involvement in the Mathieu Valbuena sex-tape scandal, and perceived attempts to destroy his image.

Here are some of the best tweets from the game.

Calling Ronaldo the best player in the world is an insult to Messi, Neymar and Suarez. 4 goals against Malmo and everyone loses their minds.
