Manchester United will be on the alert to sign Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato during the January transfer window given their lack of strikers and Pato’s good run of form for Sao Paulo.

26 year old Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato burst onto the football scene in Italy at the age of 16 and for a while was touted as one of the biggest prospects in football in those days, but injuries and a decline in form have seen him go back to playing in Brazil.

But a recent run of good form at Sao Paulo, where he is on loan from Corinthians, has seen him attract interest from a number of Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal FC, Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.

Pato Gives Big Hint About His Future

Pato has been reported to be wanting a move back to Europe, and he recently all but confirmed that he would be leaving his club during the January transfer window.

.

“I will not stay in Sao Paulo next year.” he said according to the Daily Express.

“I want to help Sao Paulo in this final stretch, these five very important games, because I want to put the team into the Copa Libertadores.”

“I see no problem. I’m a professional and I have to always do my job. I want to devote my best to them and go on vacation with a feeling of accomplishment.”

The Perfect Fit For Man United

Manchester United have started the season with a number of issues with their attacking force. Wayne Rooney has not been in the best of form and the recent injury to Anthony Martial raises issued about the strength on the bench, with the only recognized striker on the squad being the inexperienced James Wilson.

Pato has a proven goal scoring record in Europe with 63 goals for AC Milan and is currently in a good run of form having scored 26 goals in 2015, more than any forward at Manchester United. It will be a tough battle to land him though as a number of clubs look interested in the Brazilian.
