Neymar May Leave Spain To Avoid Tax Troubles

23-year-old Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. could be heading out of his Spanish club Barcelona after being accused of tax evasion with regard to his transfer to the club.

Neymar had allegedly evaded A?10.5m in Brazilian taxes between 2011 and 2013 and a Brazilian court has frozen A?31.3 million worth of assets belonging to the Barca forward, his family and related businesses.

Neymar’s father express concern about the players future in Spain

The player’s father expressed concern about the future and wondered whether staying in Spain would be the right decision for Neymar Jr. The court case also negatively affects the footballer’s image in both Spain and Brazil, and the solution to the situation might just be to relocate from Spain, if things do not work out in favour of the player.

The Shady Transfer to Barcelona

The judge in the court hearing accused Neymar Jr. of a omitting sources of income from abroada and Barcelona Football Club was cited as the source of the unreported money.

Neymar joined Barcelona, from former club Santos, in 2013 for a deal that was announced to be worth 57.1 million Euros, but it was subsequently revealed that the total cost was 86.2 million Euros after all the extra payments to the player and his family had been made. It remains to be seen how this judicial predicament will effect the player’s relationship with the club.
