The importance of a good defence was reiterated once again, during Real Madrid CF’s Champions League Group A match against Paris Saint Germain, when Los Blancos ran away 1-0 winners.
.
Real Madrid CF, who were playing at home, were not having a particularly good match, as PSG controlled the game with 58 per cent possession. However, it was Real Madrid CF, who took the lead, with a Nacho Fernandez strike, in the 35th minute, compelling PSG to chase the game.
Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani thought he had equalised, when he cleverly dinked an Angel Di Maria through ball, over a rushing Keylor Navas, as the ball bobbled its way towards the goal. However, Los Blancos defender Raphael Varane was there to save the day (and the three points) for Real Madrid CF, as he rushed towards the ball and cleared it.
This was one of the best chances PSG had, and Real manager Rafa Benitez would surely be thanking Varane for his brilliant presence of mind. Watch the video below, to see Varane’s amazing clearance.
