Alex Ferguson has voiced his concerns over the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as the manager of Liverpool FC as he believes that the former Borussia Dortmund manager can reinstate the laurels of the yesteryears at Anfield.

The former Manchester United manager joined the bandwagon as he sounded derogatory of the functions of transfer committee and stated that managers should always hold complete authority while deciding upon transfers at any football club. He also added that the thoughts of managers should never be overlooked merely by trusting the statistics of players.

The Scotsman admitted his admiration for the new Liverpool FC manager and heaped praise on him for his personality and determination. He also predicted that Jurgen Klopp would never appreciate the idea of working in accordance with the commands of a transfer committee.

.

“If you don’t trust your manager, why have him there? You’ve got to trust your coach,” he told ESPN. “Here’s the man that should be deciding which kind of player he wants, the type of player, position he wants, his character he wants. It’s the manager who knows more than anyone about what he needs as a coach.

“These Moneyball ideas about looking at statistics of players and bypassing the manager’s thoughts are wrong. Why give him a job if he can’t do it? When they’re sitting around that table to appoint a manager, do they say, well, ‘He can be part of the committee?’ That’s wrong, and I don’t think Jurgen Klopp will accept that.”

“It’s a good appointment. I admire him. I know Jurgen pretty well through our meetings at FIFA coaches’ classes in Geneva. Strong personality, very strong, very stubborn, determined and his performances, and his career at Borussia Dortmund was a stellar rise to the top. I don’t like saying that, being Liverpool, because I’m worried about it but, no, he’ll do well.”

Jurgen Klopp has been labelled the modern Arsene Wenger by Guardian senior sports writer Barney Ronay and even though he can be expected to take Liverpool FC to new heights in the long run, only time could tell how he fares with the squad that he has inherited from Brendan Rodgers.
