Speaking ahead of Manchester Uniteda s clash against Arsenal on Sunday, Louis van Gaal claimed that he is a different type of manager as compared to Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. Distancing himself from Manchester Uniteda s legendary manager, the Dutchman claimed that he thrives on different challenges as demonstrated by his career.

As reported by the Guardian, Louis van Gaal reflected upon his career and said that he had always set his goals in advance and pursued them diligently.

Louis van Gaal explained that he has always sought out new challenges in his career and that he has been lucky to be at the helm of such important teams in his lifetime. According to the Dutchman, it is this trait which distinguishes him from managers like Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger who have built their legacy at one single club.

Speaking to the press, the manager singled out Chris Smalling and Ashley Young for praise after the duo put forth an impressive performance against Wolfsburg in the Champions League fixture on Wednesday.

While refusing to take any credit for Chris Smallinga s improved performances at Manchester United, Van Gaal claimed that the defender had profited from the a vacancya left behind after Vidic and Rio Ferdinand left the club.
