Manchester United Fans Slam Wayne Rooney As Striker Enters 15th Hour Of Goal Drought

Swansea City came back from 1-0 down to beat Manchester United 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium with Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis getting on the score sheet.

.

The loss was Manchester United’s third successive against Swansea City in the league. It also meant that the Red Devils’ unbeaten start to the campaign came to an end.

Juan Mata rifled a Luke Shaw cross into the top of the net to give the visitors the lead at the start of the second half. However, Swansea soon equalized through Andre Ayew, who headed home a Gylfi Siggurdson cross. Things went from bad to worse for Manchester United as Ayew played a brilliant outside of the boot ball to Gomis, who slotted home from close range.

Louis Van Gaal has failed to beat Garry Monk in three Premier League encounters with the score being 2-1 on all the occasions. Wayne Rooney bore the brunt of Manchester United fans’ ire on Twitter after he failed to score in his 10th consecutive league game. The goal drought of Rooney now extends over 14 hours and the fans urge Van Gaal to splash some more cash to bring in a world class striker.

Here are some of the best tweets from fans, following the 2-1 defeat of Manchester United:

Bobby Charlton at 77 years old would be more effective up front than Rooney.

Exquisite dummy by Rooney. Love the way he pretended to totally misjudge the flight of the ball. a Nooruddean (@BeardedGenius) August 30, 2015

I hate how Rooney is undroppable even when he plays like this. No short of woeful today and somehow he’s still on the pitch. Sign a forward. a Liam (@OffsideLiam) August 30, 2015

Love that Sky did a VT special on Rooney yet again before this game because of the Brugge game, and he plays like an absolute drain again a Luke Aaron Moore (@lukeymoore) August 30, 2015

My favourite bit about Rooney giving the ball away to set up their break for the goal, was him standing still lamenting the poor pass. a Republik of Mancunia (@R_o_M) August 30, 2015

Put Rooney out of his misery. Taking 10 minutes to have a shot when through on goal. a Republik of Mancunia (@R_o_M) August 30, 2015

I’ve never seen a player have so many excuses made for him than Rooney. A?300k a week? Hasn’t been worth anywhere near that for a long time. a ManUnitedTalk (@ManUnitedTalk) August 30, 2015
