FC Barcelona overcame Sevilla 5-4 after Extra Time in a topsy turvy encounter to win the UEFA Super Cup Final in Georgiaa s Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

Barcelona fell behind to Sevilla in the 3rd minute of the match as Messia s national team compatriot Ever Banega curled in a pin point free kick past keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Barcelona picked up the tempo of their play in the aftermath of the goal and soon equalized through Messia s own curling free kick in the 7th minute of the match.

Nine minutes later, Twitter went into meltdown as the diminutive Argentine magician turned on the style as he scored yet another majestic free kick past a hapless Beto, who could only see the ball trickle in off the post.

In an encounter strewn with defensive lapses, Barcelona raced into a 4-1 lead courtesy of goals from Luis Suarez and Rafinha. However, Sevilla made a quite remarkable comeback in the second half as they leveled things up at 4-4 through goals from Jose Antonio Reyes, Kevin Gameiro and Yevheniy Konoplyanka, taking match into Extra time.

There was still time for more drama right at the end as Sevilla centre-back Adil Rami missed an open goal from 5 yards out in the 122nd minute after excellent work in build up by Italian striker Ciro Immobile.

Not a great start to Adil Rami’s Sevilla career. What a miss. https://t.co/SZAk1ICJvP
