FC Barcelona’s new technical secretary Robert Fernandez has admitted that Pedro could be about to leave the club amidst Manchester United interest.

Pedroa s future at FC Barcelona has been subject of intense speculation despite the player signing a new deal in the summer.

The arrival of Arda Turan means Pedroa s chances might be further limited with Neymar, Messi, Suarez all ahead in the pecking order to start for Barcelona.

The player himself was quoted saying earlier that he was unsure about his future and his buyout clause recently dropped from a 150 million to a 30m

.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for the player, with manager Luis Enrique recently admitting that Pedro could leave should his release clause be met.

Fernandez confirms FC Barcelona awaiting offers for Pedro

In his first press conference since being chosen as the technical secretary by re-elected President Bartomeu, Fernandez was quoted saying by ESPN FC:

“You know the situation. [Pedro] has a release clause of a 30m, and we are waiting for someone to make the offer. His performance level is fantastic and the coach and we like him. We do not want him to go, but we know this is a risky situation, and we have to wait.”

Manchester United keen to sign Pedro as Di Maria replacement

Manchester United are keen to sign Pedro to replace the departing Angel Di Maria, with manager Louis van Gaal recently stating that the club is keen to sign a player in his mould.

One look at their statistic and one can understand why van Gaal is so keen on Pedro, who could prove to be a bargain for 21m GBP.

Di Maria, who is more of a passer and chance creator, has a higher chances created, key passes, and assist per 90 minutes stat.

But Pedro’s shooting, goal scoring and his ability to take players on with pace ensures he is a better goalscorer and dribbler. With his electric pace complementing the likes of Rooney, Depay and Mata, Pedro could indeed be a fantastic addition in a league where physical attributes count as much as technical ones.
