Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has said that Christian Benteke has surprised everyone at Melwood and the Northern Irishman is convinced that the A?32.5 million striker will prove to be a bargain.

Christian Benteke completed his move to Liverpool FC from Aston Villa, in July, for a fee of A?32.5m. Liverpool paid A?16m upfront and rest will be add ons.

.

There is a worry among the Liverpool fans that the player may not fit the philosophy of the manager despite Brendan Rodgers himself stating that Benteke was his primary transfer target.

‘Benteke a bargain’

But Brendan Rodgers has moved to allay those fears by expressing his confidence in the striker’s ability as evident from his training ground performances and said that he will go onto prove a bargain.

As quoted saying by Liverpool Echo on Benteke, Rodgers said: a Ia ve read and seen things about his game, but in the short period of time hea s been in, Ia ve been even more impressed.

a Ia ve seen him up close now for three years, stood at the side of the field and watching this guy a not just his power and strength, but also his footballing ability.

a Hea s surprised people in the early stages of life at Liverpool with that mobility and the quickness of his feet a and his natural power and strength is there to see.

a One of the goals I remember he scored against us at Anfield, he ran halfway through the field.

a This isna t someone who lacks pace, movement and intelligence. Hea s not just a guy who you chuck the ball up to.

a Of course, his strength allows you to keep the ball, but hea ll really help the unpredictability of our game this season.

a For me, I think hea ll prove to be a bargain for the club, I really do.a

The 24-year-olda s 12 goals in as many games towards the end of last season played a vital role in helping his former side Aston Villa avoid relegation and helped him secure a move to Liverpool FC
