Arsene Wenger: Arsenal FC No Longer A Selling Club

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal FC will never need to sell their best players, again, and can compete with the best teams in Europe financially, now.

Arsenal FC has seen the high-profile departures of Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira, Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Gael Clichy during a trophyless nine-year period at the club.

It was during this time that Arsenal FC decided to make their new stadium in order to compete financially with the big European sides in the future and finally, the financial burden seems to have lifted with Wenger making marquee signings in each of the last two summers in Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

No Need Balance The Books

The Frenchman says there will be no more big-money sales at Arsenal FC to fund new deals.

Wenger said: “The time where we had to sell our best players is over for sure.

“We had five or six years where we were financially restricted, we had to balance the books and we had to pay the stadium back. This time has gone.

“It was a very sensitive period, and mentally a difficult period, but now we are over that.”

We Can Compete With The Best

Wenger went onto add that the club can compete with the big guns in Europe financially which was not the case over the last decade or so.

“Now we are competing with everybody on the financial front and I think we can keep our best players.”

Still No New Signings?

Arsenal FC have been linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain .

However, Arsene Wenger has recently indicated that he will not be making any new signings .

He said: a We have already strengthened the squad, but I believe part of the success of the squad is also the level of cohesion. We have a good level of cohesion. I believe we have the quality, and ita s now about how much we can be stronger together.

Wenger first indicating that he is not keen to add to the squad and than making a statement that Arsenal FC have the budget to compete with the best clearly points out a strategy to fight off any concerns in the Arsenal FC fan base that the club is still under financial constraints and reassure them that money is not a problem anymore.
