Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has said that he is “honoured” to be linked with Manchester United but will stay at the German club for another year.

Mats Hummels has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United for sometime now.

Hummels has seen a number of his high profile colleagues depart the club in recent times, but, has reiterated that while he is happy with the interest shown in him by Manchester United, he will stay on at Dortmund for another year.

.

“There have always been rumours about almost every one of our players, but I decided not to make the move this year,” he told reporters.

“Of course when the big clubs are interested, and Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s an honour. But I decided I wanted to stay here.”

Hummels began his career with Bayern Munich and currently has another two years left on his contract with Dortmund, who are now coached by Thomas Tuchel after JA?rgen Klopp stepped down following a disappointing season.

Hummels joins his German teammate Ilkay Gundogan, who recently extended his contract by a year, as another player who was heavily linked with an exit but has committed his immediate future to the club.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to continue their hunt for a centerback and are hoping to lure Sergio Ramos in a deal for David De Gea, refusing to other wise let the Spanish goalkeeper leave the club.

However, a deal is thought to be far from close with Ramos reportedly prefering to stay at Real Madrid than join Manchester United as he reaches final two year of his contract.
