Schweinsteiger Dents Manchester United Hope By Stating He Wants Fourth Successive Title With Bayern

.

Manchester United have been seriously linked with Bastian Schweinsteiger in the last few days with some reports even claiming the German was intent about a move to Old Trafford.

However, the Bayern Munich midfielder has put a dent to those hopes by claiming he wants to win a fourth successive title at the Bavarian club and that it was a motivation for him to continue playing successfully in the next few years.

Reports to Manchester United, a side he was close to joining in 2010 before he agreed a contract extension at the club, emerged mainly because the player has yet to agree a contract extension with Pep Guardiolaa s side.

The 30-year-old is out of contract next summer. He featured in just 20 Bundesliga matches last season

“I would like to win the Champions League again, but also once again play as successfully as in the last few years,a he told Die Welt.

a We are three times German champions. And I think no team has managed it four times. That’s a motivation.a

“I feel good and I’m ready to play for the next three years at the top level. That’s my goal,a he added.

“We also have next year’s European Championship 2016. This is obviously a big goal. Not only for me but also for the whole football nation, Germany works for such targets.

The Red Devils shouldn’t be too disappointed as they are closing in on a A?25million move to sign Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin, who would be basically challenging the player for the same spot. Schneiderlin will provide United with a solid presence in the midfield and will be a capable cover for Michael Carrick, without whom, United played extremely sub-par.

United are looking to at exciting players to bring in to ensure they challenge Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title and are impressive in other competitions.
