Juventus star Arturo Vidal has been arrested for drunk driving on Tuesday night, following a car crash on the outskirts of Santiago, police have confirmed and could be excluded from the Chile squad as per early reports by Gazetta dello Sports journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Arturo Vidal was involved in a car crash, escaping serious injuries in the outskirts of Santiago in Chile, where he is currently with the Chile national team for the Copa America.

Vidal could be excluded from the Chile squad according to Palmeri, following his arrest by the Police.

The incident occurred on the Rio Marpa, a highway south of Santiago, as the midfielder was returning to Chilea s home base for the tournament after being given an off day by coach Jorge Sampaoli.

Gazzetta dello Sport report that Vidal and his wife were both transferred to San Luis de Buin di Santiago Hospital, where they were both treated for minor injuries.

After being looked at by doctors, Vidal was taken away by authorities where it was later revealed that the player had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

“Because he was driving under the influence of alcohol … (Vidal) is being held,” police colonel Ricardo Gonzalez told reporters outside a police station. Vidal has been a key player for Chile and heads the goal scoring chart in Copa America with three goals in two games for the hosts, but, could find himself excluded from the squad if Palmeri is to be believed.
