Liverpool FC Interested In Barcelona’s ai??i??12m Centre Back

Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Barcelona’s Marc Bartra.

The Barcelona centre back has thrown his future in the air after revealing his services could be acquired for a measlya 12m.

The Spain international has a higher release clause but the fact that he only made 14 league appearances apparently has reduced his release clause to a 12m, at which, he could be an absolute steal for most clubs.

The 24 year-old came through the prestigious Barcelona academy but finds himself as the club’s fourth choice at the moment with Gerard Pique, Javier Mascherano and Jeremy Mathieu preferred by Luis Enrique. Bartra will face further competition in Thomas Vermaelen next season.

According to Spanish paper Sport, Liverpool and Tottenham have both made initial contact over a possible move. The two Premier League sides however, are only two of the many clubs interested in signing the player. Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund have also been listed as destinations the centre back could find himself in next season.

At 24, Bartra could be a quality addition for Liverpool who need to get back to their very best next season. The Reds need to add to their attack, but the defence is the area that needs to be strengthened the most as it has caused Liverpool a lot of damage in the recent seasons. Martin Skrtel’s future at the club looks clouded at the moment and the Reds might be looking to add a centre back in this window and at a 12m (or in the region of), Bartra looks absolutely ideal.

We see in the comparison above how Bartra is a solid defender and could be an upgrade on the current Liverpool defenders. He is 24 years of age and is at a time in his career where he needs game time. At Liverpool, especially if Skrtel were to leave, the Spaniard could establish himself as the preferred centre back and help the Reds in an area they desperately need to strengthen.
