Liverpool . have been linked with Inter Milan’s Mateo Kovacic vigorously in the last few weeks and the player has now gone on record to state that he will stay at Inter next season.
The Reds have been rumored to be very interested in signing Croatian starlet Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan and have reportedly made two bids for the player. However, these are just reports and during this time of the year, it isn’t uncommon for such reports to be brought to the fore. Sources close to the club (some journalists) have maintained complete silence over the matter and Roberto Mancini recently also spoke about him feeling Kovacic will stay with Inter. Therefore, it is not even certain whether there is genuine interest from the Merseysiders, or whether the deal will be closed shortly.
And now the player himself has gone on the air to state that he wants to stay at San Siro.
a Ia ve signed a contract until 2019 and I expect to remain at the club until then, but you never know in football,a he said, a Ia m 100 per cent committed to Inter and want to stay at the club.a
These comments are not unheard of from players making a move but this will definitely alarm the Liverpool management.
Brendan Rodgers is expected to make a number of signings this summer as he prepares himself and the club for a very crucial season after a particularly disappointing one. Kovacic could be interested in a move to Liverpool as he is likely to get more football at the club, participate in a European competition albeit the Europa League and the lure of the Premier League often tempts many. A midfield of Kovacic, Henderson/Milner/Can and Philippe Coutinho could be a brilliant prospect for the Reds next season who need to get back to the top 4.
