FC Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has cast doubt over his future following the Champions League triumph.
Luis Enrique rocked the club following the aftermath of the treble winning night by saying: “The truth is that my future is uncertain. For now, though, everything is happiness.”
.
“We are very happy. I’ve got a unique group of players. They’re winners, soldiers and they enjoy what they do and they make us all enjoy it.”
“I never thought we would win the treble, but one always tries to do their job the best that they can. These players have shown that they do not get tired of winning.”
“It was a difficult year and I’m grateful to all the people that showed faith in me. They thought I would do well here and I want to dedicate this to them.”
Luis Enrique took the FC Barcelona job from Gerardo Martino in the summer after a trophyless year and has completed an amazing turnaround by guiding the Catalans to La Liga, Copa del Rey and now the European crown.
There were reports of disharmony in the Barcelona squad mid season with Lionel Messi reportedly missing training with health reasons as excuse because of a training ground scuffle with Luis Enrique.
Since then, the squad and the manager have buried their differences going on an incredible run to overhaul Real Madrid in the title race and winning the Copa Del Rey and Champions League.
With the Barcelona presidential election due next week, reports were rife that the manager is not sure of being in charge next year and he has confirmed that in the aftermath of the triumph over Juventus.
With politics playing an important role in the Catalan club, Enrique does have a genuine cause of concern.
Should the manager depart from FC Barcelona, it will be unprecedented in the history of the game that a manager has been fired after having won the treble of the league, cup, and the European Cup for a club in Europe’s top 5 league.
