Juventus FC defender Giorgio Chiellini is doubtful for the UEFA Champions League final against FC Barcelona after the Italian limped off the club’s training on Wednesday. He had complained of a pain on his left calf and he will be examined by club doctors to determine the seriousness of the injury.
In a statement, the club authorities confirmed the news of Chiellini’s injury. The statement read:
“Chiellini was forced to leave the field with a sore left calf. . His condition will be evaluated tomorrow.”
If the injury is serious Giorgio Chiellini, who was an integral part of Juventus’ defense throughout the tournament, might get ruled out of the important Champions League clash. It will be a huge blow for the Italian club who are up against a strong attack force of FC Barcelona side comprising of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
The only good news for Massimiliano Allegri is that Chiellini’s defensive counterpart Andrea Barzagli completed a full training session on Wednesday and has recovered from a muscle injury. At least he will be fit enough to play.
The Champions League final was supposed to be a reunion of Luis Suarez and Giorgio Chiellini after the infamous biting incident which happened in the FIFA World Cup 2014 group stage game between Italy and Uruguay.
