Speaking after his unveiling as the new Real Madrid manager, Rafael Benitez has confirmed that the club are watching Liverpoola s Raheem Sterling who seems to be on his way out this summer with Arsenal, Manchester City and PSG interested in the midfielder. However the manager refused to comment on Manchester United . a s David De Gea who is reported to be on the verge of joining Real Madrid this summer.

Following disputes regarding his contract renewal, Raheem Sterling looks set to make a high-profile move away from Liverpool with clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal and Real Madrid keen to sign the young midfielder. Shortly after having been introduced formally as the new Real Madrid manager, ex-Liverpool man Rafael Benitez did not shy away from admitting that his club admired the player suggesting that they could approach Liverpool with an offer.

“We admire Raheem, that’s no secret – but he is not one of our players so I can’t really comment on him.”

Benitez was also quizzed on Madrida s links with Manchester Uniteda s goalkeeper David De Gea but the manager refused to fuel any speculation though the player is reported to be on the verge of signing a deal with Madrid.

“I like the way you have tried to sneak that question under the radar but we will evaluate everything in time. We will not name names today.”

Though the move for David De Gea seems to be a done deal for Real Madrid, it will be interesting to see if Benitez decides to pursue Raheem Sterling in the coming transfer window. Sterlinga s arrival is sure to nail Iscoa s coffin at Santiago Bernabeu, a move that will immediately antagonize the Real Madrid faithful who will not Beniteza s decision kindly. However Real Madrid are known to make ‘tough’ decisions, as Florentino Perez put it while sacking Ancelotti and hence the Spanish club have a higher chance of securing Sterling’s signature as Liverpool would loathe to lose their star midfielder to rivals Arsenal and Manchester City.
