FC Porto’s star striker, Jackson Martinez is all set to leave the club at the end of this season to join Premier League side Arsenal FC. According to media reports in Portugal, the Colombian international has a “principle agreement” or pre-contract agreement with the Gunners. It is believed that Martinez has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal. The FC Porto fans also gave Martinez a send-off in the club’s last game of the season.
The Colombian striker’s buyout clause stands at A?24.8m. Arsene Wenger had revealed earlier that he would make big signings once again in this summer. Jackson Martinez can very well prove to Wenger’s first big marquee signing of the season.
Martinez can prove to be a handy buy for Arsene Wenger. Although Olivier Giroud did a commendable job for the Gunners this season scoring 14 goals in 26 games, Martinez’s inclusion into the squad will help the team to improve even more. Also, Wenger will have the option of swapping the strikers alternatively in order to avoid injury crisis.

Other Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on roping in the 28-year-old forward next season. Martinez has been in sublime form. He netted 28 times in this season in all competitions for FC Porto in 38 matches. He has 21 league goals and 7 UEFA Champions League goals.
