FC Barcelona moved one step closer to winning the La Liga as a stunning hat-trick from Luis Suarez and goals from Rakitic, Messi, Pique and Neymar helped Blaugrana thrash relegation bound Cordoba by 8-0. Luis Suarez looked excited after the win and said that FC Barcelona are now ready for the challenge of Bayern Munich.

Cordoba made life hard for FC Barcelona in first half hour but Ivan Rakitic opened the scoring in the 37th minute, which was followed by a riot, led by Luis Suarez. Messi scored his 50th goal of the season in all competitions just after the start of the second half and Luis Suarez scored his second goal seven minutes later, before Gerard Pique headed in the fifth in the 63rd minute.

Messi scored his second goal of the game in the 80th minute, while Neymar and Luis Suarez rounded off the rout of minnows Cordoba.

Luis Suarez was pleased with the performance of FC Barcelona and said that his side is now ready to face Bayern Munich.

“Now we need to put this match in the back of our minds and focus on the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich,” Luis Suarez told Canal Plus. “It’s a very important game and we are striving for so much this season.

“I am so pleased and delighted with my form – it’s thanks to the support and confidence that my team-mates give me that I can score at this rate. Without them and my family, I wouldn’t be scoring these goals.

“We just forgot about the Champions League game on the horizon against Cordoba, we knew that the next game is always the most important and we did everything we could to snatch all three points.”
