Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC are interested in AS Roma forward Juan Iturbe, according to his agent’s suggestive comments, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old only joined AS Roma last summer for a reported sum of A?17.4million. Roma fought off competition from Juventus, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid to complete the signing of the highly rated Argentinean. Iturbe has not made the kind of impact he would have hoped for since arriving. Despite making 29 appearances (8 coming from the bench) in all competitions for the Italian club, he only has three goals and three assists to his name.
The 21-year old was in sensational form last season for the newly promoted Hellas Verona and was an instrumental part in the teama s impressive tenth placed finish. He attracted a lot of interest from clubs all over Europe and was constantly linked with Liverpool. Arsenal and Chelsea were the other English clubs to show interest in the 21 year old. Juventus, were very keen on landing him, and reports suggested terms had been agreed between the club and the player before AS Roma came in to swoop for him.
Much was expected from Iturbe in his first season for Roma but the player has not had much of an impact and the Express claims that there have been some suggestions that he could be look aim to get away from Roma as soon as possible.
His agent, Gustavo Mascardi, said: a I think hea ll stay at Roma next year. [But] there are two teams in England who want him and would be willing to pay the fee that Roma did for him.a
The Express has claimed the two clubs being suggested to be Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsenal are in sensational form at the moment and would want to add more firepower to bolster their chances of competing for the title next season. Liverpool look to be missing out on the Champions League next season and would want to make sure they get back into the top-4 places next season and need to add more goals to their team next season and Iturbe could prove to be a good purchase.
However, it is unlikely that Roma would want the player to leave after just one season.
