FC Porto forward Jackson Martinez has been linked with various Premier League sides including Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. However, no move materialized in the January transfer window.
Recent reports indicate that Martinez is ready to make a move in the summer and this has given the Premier League sides hope. This might result in a bidding war as some of the top British clubs will be interested in acquiring the Colombiana s signature.
The forward confirmed that he will be interested to make a leap in the upcoming summer window.
“Right now I only focus on doing my job with Porto, but I’m ready to make the leap in the next window,” said the Colombia international.
“I have my head focused only on the work I’m doing at Porto at the moment and when the transfer window re-opens, we shall see what will happen.”
Jackson Martinez, who signed for Porto in 2012 for around US $11 million, impressed in the World Cup for Colombia scoring two goals in just 3 appearances. Both the goals came in a group stage match against Japan. He has continued his World Cup form and is looking very impressive playing in Portugal. The 28-year-old has notched 20 goals in 24 appearances this term, including five in the Champions League.
Jackson Martinez is a brilliant forward and an out-and-out goalscorer who can finish off both feet. The Colombiana s age might be a concern as at 28, he is already at his peak. However, a striker of his calibre is bound to make a positive impact for any team.
If Manchester United dona t sign Radamel Falcao on permanent basis, Jackson Martinez will be a great prospect for the Red Devils. Keeping in mind Van Persiea s age and with Chicharito not looking like he will ever be a first team player for any top club, signing Martinez will be a very sound decision for Van Gaala s side.
Jackson Martinez will also be a brilliant signing for Liverpool, who have been struggling with the inconsistency of their strikers. In the absence of Sturridge, Liverpool were left high and dry with both their summer signings Balotelli and Lambert failing to impress. Jackson Martinez will complete the Liverpool attack which also consists of Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho.
Arsenal, meanwhile, do not seem like the place where the Colombian will flourish. Wenger already has a complete side in attack with the likes of Giroud, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck.
