Manchester United are reported to have been interested in Barcelonaa s Dani Alves following the Braziliana s claim that he is not interested in negotiating a contract renewal at Camp Nou. According to reports, other European clubs such as PSG are also keenly monitoring the potential transfer situation.
The Barcelona right-back has just six months left in his contract and has claimed that he will see out the contract instead of renewing it at Barcelona. Dani Alves can negotiate with possible suitors but believes that he will not leave Camp Nou in January.
“I’m not interested in negotiating a move now. First I will finish my contract and then we will see what happens.”
However with the transfer ban currently placed on Barcelona, it seems odd that the Catalans will allow their defender to leave the club, especially at a time when fellow right-back Martin Montoya has also expressed a desire to leave the club. If both the players do end up leaving the club by the coming summer, Luis Enrique will have no experienced defender to choose from considering the fact that he will not be allowed to bring in fresh recruitments.
Dani Alves however claims that he is not interested in Barcelonaa s problems and has alleged that the Catalans have not offered him a contract renewal.
a The problem of leaving bare the right-back slot is not mine. It is Barcelona’s. They have not offered me a renewal.”
According to reports, Manchester United are very keen to sign Dani Alves and the Brazillian is expected to adjust well into Van Gaala s 5-3-2 system at Old Trafford. With Rafael spending a lot of time out injured in recent times, Van Gaal has been forced to use Antonio Valencia and Young as full-backs during his tenure at Manchester United. According to reports, United have also expressed an interest in Evertona s Seamus Coleman and are in the market for a replacement for Rafael.
THT Verdict: Despite his talent, Rafael has been hugely erratic for Manchester United and it seems that Van Gaal has identified Seamus Coleman and Dani Alves as possible replacement on the right flank. With Dani Alves out of a contract next summer, it will not be surprising to see the Brazilian move to Manchester to start a new chapter in his career.
