Fabian Schar, a long time target of Arsenal, has stated that he is keen to leave his current club FC Basel in order to play abroad.
Arsenal, AC Milan, Inter and Juventus are tracking the FC Basel defender since past few months as his contract is set to expire in June 2015. And Fabian Schar has given a big transfer boost to these clubs as he has said that he is particularly interested in joining either AC Milan, Juventus or Inter Milan.
However, in spite of specific mentions of Italian clubs by Schar, the management of Arsenal is also on alert as the player has said that he is keen to play for any Serie A, Bundesliga or Premier League club.
Speaking to Swiss newspaper Blick, Fabian Schar said that: “My dream remains to have an experience abroad. I’ve always said that if the opportunity presented itself, I would take it, obviously in agreement with Basel. I need a team with important prospects. I’d like the Bundesliga, Premier League or top Italian clubs like Inter, Milan andAi??Juventus. I couldn’t say no. I want to hear all my options and consider them carefully. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wanted to sign at least one top quality central defender during the summer transfer window after the departure of Thomas Vermaelen but he failed in his attempts and ended up in signing Calum Chambers only.
Arsenal management is keen to add more depth to their defence in January transfer window and Fabian Schar, who is widely recognized as one of the most talented young central defender, is their primary target. Fabian Schar has made a good name for himself in his short career so far because of his excellent sense of position and his marking abilities. And Arsenal scouts are also impressed with his performance levels this season.
Another important factor behind Arsenalai??i??s interest in Schar is his attractive price. The contract of Schar with FC Basel is set to expire in June 2015 and any offer in the region of 8-10 million euros would be enough to lure him away in winter transfer window as his employers would be reluctant to let him go for free after six months.
Meanwhile, if Arsenal want to have any success in chase of Schar, they have to fend off the interest of the likes of Milan, Juventus and Inter as the Serie A clubs are also keeping a keen watch on the situation of the player.
