Spanish champions Atletico Madrid have rekindled their interest in Tottenham Hotspurai??i??s Roberto Soldado.
Atletico Madrid are in process of restructuring their attack after the sales of Diego Costa, David Villa and Adrian Lopez and coach Diego Simeone sees Soldado as the perfect addition to his squad.
Atletico Madrid have already signed the likes of Antoine Griezman and Mario Mandzukic but coach Diego Simeone wants to add more depth to his squad. Roberto Soldado joined Tottenham from Valencia last year but he failed miserably in his debut season and now, reports coming from Spain suggest that he wants to play in La Liga again.
Madrid based daily Marca has confirmed the interest of Atletico Madrid in the ex- Valencia striker. Marca report claims that: ai???Roberto Soldado is back in the spotlight. AtlAi??tico are already negotiating in an attempt to bring the Tottenham striker to Simeone’s league champions. ‘El Cholo’ is keen to sign the striker. The Argentine values his keen eye for goal, as well as his competitive personality, something that makes him unpopular with opposition players and the subject of some heavy tackling. Roberto Soldado, 29, was an integral part of Valencia between 2010 to 2013 as he scored 59 goals in 101 appearances. Soldado moved to London in last summer for a reported fee of 30 million euros but he failed to justify his price tag. Ai??Mauricio Pochettino, newly appointed boss of Tottenham, does not consider Soldado as an integral part of his squad and he is willing to let Soldado leave the club.
Atletico Madrid have made an initial contact with the management of Tottenham Hotspur over a possible transfer but reportedly, the club is only interested in a loan move. Atletico has already spent more than 80 million euros and any more outlay will put the club under the scanner of UEFA as the football governing body is strictly following the rules of Financial Fair Play.
However, despite their reluctance to sign Soldado on permanent basis, Atletico Madrid do have a realistic chance of getting their man as the Spaniard himself is not happy at White Haart Lane. Soldado feels that he does not have a future at Tottenham and he is eager to play again in La Liga.
Meanwhile, Roberto Soldado is not the only attacker who is attracting interest from Rojablancos. Paris Saint Germain winger Javier Pastore also remains the target of Diego Simeone. The French champions are over-populated in attack and Pastore does not fit well in the plans of coach Laurent Blanc.
