Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the possibility of signing AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli.
With Brendan Rodgers expressing his admiration for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli in an interview, the press was quick to link the Italian international with a move to Anfield this summer. But the Liverpool manager has categorically denied any interest in signing the former Manchester City forward.
Mario Balotelliai??i??s future has come under a lot of speculation this summer and the Italian international has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani and Arsene Wenger have both rubbished these reports recently.
The 23-year-old joined AC Milan in 2013, after spending nearly three years at Manchester City. The Italian international has scored 30 goals in 54 appearances, in all competitions, since his arrival.
Liverpool are in the market for a new striker following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona. The Merseyside club were close to landing Loic Remy, but the deal failed to materialize at the last moment and the latest reports suggested that the Reds have turned their attention towards Balotelli.
The reports stemmed from an interview where Brendan Rodgers expressed his admiration for the Milan striker and labelled him as a top talent. But the Liverpool manager has insisted that his quotes were taken out of proportions and categorically denied the possibility of Balotelli arriving at Anfield this summer.
“I can categorically tell you Mario Balotelli will not be at Liverpool.
“In my last press conference I was asked a question about Mario Balotelli and I talked about what a talent he was and what an excellent player he was and the next day it was wrote as if we were signing him.
“I just gave my perception of him as a player. It shouldn’t be transmitted in to us signing the player.” ai??i?? The Liverpool manager said.
The Merseyside club are believed to be close to signing Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo, but Rodgers refused to take any names despite accepting that the squad might require further strengthening.
