Southampton executive director Les Reed has stated that Liverpool FC will have to pay over the top for Adam Lallana if they are to consider any bid for the midfielder.
Liverpool have been in open pursuit of Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana in this transfer window and reports suggest that they have already failed with two bids for the Englishman.
The 26-year-old midfielder produced some brilliant performances for Southampton last season, which eventually earned him a place in the England World Cup squad at Brazil. The midfielder scored nine goals and provided six assists as Southampton finished eighth in the Premier League.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is impressed by the development of Lallana last season and is keen to sign him as he looks to strengthen his squad. The Merseyside club have already side Southampton striker Rickie Lambert in this transfer window and have also been linked with both Lallana and Dejan Lovren.
But Southampton are keen to hold on their prized asset this summer, especially after the departure of Lambert. The future of Luke Shaw has also come under a lot of speculations and he hopes that the appointment of Ronald Koeman will help in retaining their stars. Reed also hinted that Liverpool will need to pay over the top for them to consider any bid for Lallana.
