Manchester United are having a season to forget under manager David Moyes and it is being reported that club management is lining up club legend Ryan Giggs as the Scotsai??i?? replacement.
Football website Goal has run a story today claiming that the Scot is under tremendous pressure to give results. The rumours are also claiming that there has been a rift between Giggs and Moyes. The United veteran was left out of the squad for the humiliating 3-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday and reports emerged that suggested the pair had fallen out. There were also claims the two clashed after the match.
However, sources close to Ryan Giggs have furiously denied suggestions that the United legend has fallen out with the manager, but there are some within the club who expect the 40-year-old club legend to be in charge before the end of the campaign.
Giggsai??i?? role on the pitch has become much more periphery since the departure of Ferguson, with the 40-year-old appearing just three times since the turn of the year. Giggs, appointed to Moyesai??i??s backroom team following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, has become such a peripheral figure that the joke among supporters is that he should be renamed ai???the ghost of Old Traffordai???.

Moyes was in relatively defiant mood in his pre-match press conference, insisting that his job is ai???safeai???. But while the Scot has come out fighting, the disharmony at all levels of the club has never been more apparent.

Giggs, of course, as a member of Moyesai??i??s coaching team, Giggs is hugely respected by players, senior figures and supporters alike and would be a popular appointment.
While the club stalwart would probably accept himself that he may not be ready for a full-time role, he may have to step in until the end of the season if the situation does not improve quickly.
With United seventh in the Premier League table and 18 points behind leaders Chelsea, last yearai??i??s champions are staring at the prospect of failing to qualify for even the Europa League next season.
