Manchester United are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng this summer after it has been reported that the club has made the ex-Manchester City player, one of their top priorities.
Boateng started his career atAi??Hertha BSCAi??where he quickly moved along its ranks, as he made a speedy progression from the youth side to the senior side. He signed forAi??Hamburger after an impressive full season for Hertha and established himself as an essential part of the side as he helped the club reach two Europa League semi-finals in succession. In 2010, he moved to the Premier League as Manchester City came calling. However, a frustrating season which was marred with injuries, the 25 year old moved back to his country with European giants Bayern Munich offering him the homecoming.
The German international primarily operates as a centre-back, though he has does recurrently played as a fullback as well. He is also well aware of the familiarity and conditions of the Premier League after spending a season at city rivals Manchester City in the 2010-11 edition. After going back to Germany, Boateng has given a string of notable performances for his club and country. The 25 year old is a speedy defender who likes to move forward and contributes well with the midfielders and attackers to give his side an attacking impetus too.
United are well aware of Boatengai??i??s price tag as they understand that the Bavarian outfit will not sell the player cheap. Boateng would be a very difficult man to court as the player is representing Bayern Munich, arguably the best footballing side of Europe, at the moment. The fact that he has started 19 out of 24 Ai??league games, goes on to show the belief Pep Guardiola has in the player and that the 25 year old is essential in the team. The probability of the player wanting to move from the European Champions to a team that might not even be participating in the elite European competition next season is very slim. Moreover, the cost of getting the player might give David Moyes considerable jitters.
