Arsenal FC are reportedly scouting young Valencia striker Francisco Paco Alcacer and are expected to make a transfer move in the summer.
This has been a breakthrough season for Spanish U-21 international as new Los Che manager Juan Antonio Pizzi has shown a lot of faith in the youngster off late. Paco Alcacer has Valenciaai??i??s top scorer in all competition having scored 10 goals in 17 starts and is currently one of the most in form strikers in Spain. Since the appointment of Pizzi at the helm of the club back in December, Alcacer has been a regular in the Valencia starting line-up and has produced memorable performances against Barcelona at Camp Nou, where he scored a fantastic winner, and then against Real Betis, where he scored a brace and provided an assist in a 5-0 win.
His rise in stature has drawn interest from a lot of club and Arsenal are reportedly leading the race for his signature in the summer. Alcacerai??i??s current contract with the Spanish club expires in 2016 and his agent is reportedly eager to accept offers from bigger European clubs. He was close to signing for Liverpool when Rafa Benitez was in charge of the Merseyside club back in 2009, when he broke into the Valencia B team and scored truck load of goals for the Spanish U-17 side and the Spanish clubai??i??s youth teams. Back then he also drew interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich, but Valencia were able to keep hold of the youngster. But the Gunners are back once again and reports suggest that Arsenal have already scouted him four times this season.
Valencia of course has a history of producing fine young talents and their financial problems in the past few years have always forced them to sell these players to bigger clubs. Despite the imminent arrival of a new owner, it seems unlikely that they could keep hold of Paco Alcacer if Arsenal come in with a reasonable offer. Arsene Wenger is keen to add to his strike force in the summer, something is the weakest link in the current squad and he has already been linked with a lot of forwards, including another Spanish youngster Alvaro Morata.
Arsenal could make a move Alcacer as early as the upcoming summer transfer window, as they are worried about interest from Barcelona as well. Alcacer is adept at playing the role of a lone striker upfront, but he can also operate as a support striker in a slightly deeper role. The Arsenal transfer target is quick on the floor and has been compared with former Valencia striker David Villa for his style of movement and finishing. Arsenal already have another talented young striker in their ranks in Yaya Sanogo, but Alcacer is different to the Frenchman in a lot of aspects. Arsene Wenger could possibly buy two strikers in the summer with Nicklas Bendtner leaving and Sanogo facing fitness concerns since his arrival. Alcacer will definitely be a good addition to the squad and he has shown this season that he is ready for the big stage.
