Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has expressed his determination to prove himself at White Hart Lane.
Roberto Soldado was part of the Tottenham Hotspurai??i??s summer upheaval in the transfer market, which saw them invest heavily in the squad after departure of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. Great things were expected of the Spanish international, who was prolific for Valencia since joining them from Getafe in 2010. But Soldado has found life hard and often cold in England since his move. His career got off to a good start as he scored winners against Crystal Palace and Swansea City in the opening two matches in the Premier League, but hit a dry patch soon after that. Moreover, his failure to score from open play was highlighted as four of his six goals so far in the league have arrived from penalties. It is fair to say that the Spaniard hasnai??i??t quite lived up to the billing, that his big price tag brought along, and has underachieved this season, something which perhaps holds true for the whole Tottenham squad.
But Spurs had a lot of new players and it was expected that these players will take time to get together and perform as a team. Moreover, the managerial change midway through the season hasnai??i??t helped them settle down as well. The Spurs supporters will perhaps see the best of this former Valencia forward next season as he looks to build a new partnership with Emmanuel Adebayor up front. His goal against Cardiff City in their last match proved to be the winner and his celebrations following that well taken goal showed what it meant for him. There is a lot of goodwill around the club which is urging him on to succeed. The Spurs supporters want him to succeed and most importantly, his teammates want him to succeed as well.
Soldado has appreciated this support in an interview and has hoped to reward peopleai??i??s faith in him by getting back to his best. The striker has accepted the responsibility for his failure in front of goal so far and insisted that at a younger age he would have chosen to return to Spain in order to escape such expectations and scrutiny by the media.
“If all this had happened to me when I was 22, I would have probably returned home after a month, but I believe it is a positive experience for me, my family and for the education of my children.
“I am the only one responsible for my poor form, but I will get better.

Soldado has also stressed on the importance of that strike against Cardiff and what it means for everyone.
“It was a much-needed goal for me and especially for my team-mates and the fans.
