Brendan Rodgers feels it is Liverpool FC‘s home games against their Ai??Premier League rivals, that will give the Reds advantage in the title race. Manager wants to loan Tiago Ilori, not Jordan Ibe.
Rodgers believes Liverpool’s run of Anfield games against their main rivals will give them the edge in the title race which is heating up every week.
Liverpool host Everton on January 28, Arsenal on February 8, Manchester City on April 12 and Chelsea on April 26.
The Liverpool boss, in his pre match conference spoke confidently about his side’s League chances
“We have all these teams to play at home and we are only six points off the lead.
“And because of that we have to feel that we are part of it.
“Of course, everyone will talk about the three clubs that are there ahead of us because of their squads and because they have been around the for the past few years.
“For us, it it is just a case of continuing to improve and work. We are working and fighting to be up there.Ai??It’s close.Ai??Since Christmas Day the lead has changed quite a few times and it will continue to.
“If you get a little run going then you will be up there and if you lose a few then you can be right out of it.
“The important thing for us is to maintain our focus and concentration and you really have to start to push in he second half of the season.I have a group of players who a brilliantly focused.
The Reds boss does indeed have a valid point there as Liverpool have been absolutely lethal at home winning eight out of the nine games played at Anfield. Liverpool only have to face Manchester United and Southampton, out of the present top half of the table, away this season.
Brendan Rodgers also spoke about Tiago Ilori, the 20 year old centre back who arrived in the summer from Sporting Lisbon in a seven million pound deal and has yet not made a first team appearance. Rodgers had commented then itself that the Portuguese was “one for the future”. However, Liverpool fans have been waiting to watch the highly rated defender in action and see why the club courted him for so long before he was eventually tied down for the club.
Rodgers said that a loan deal would be something Liverpool would take for Ilori as Granada and Valencia have both been linked with a loan move for the defender.
