Arsenal FCAi??maintained their fantastic start to the season with a crucial win against Swansea, in what turned out to be a close encounter.
Arsene Wengerai??i??s men gave him reasons to celebrate on the eve of the 17th anniversary of his arrival at the club as Arsenal held off Swansea for a crucial victory. It was perfectly set up for the Gunners as results earlier in the day say Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City dropping points. It was the perfect opportunity for Arsenal to extend their lead at the top and they obliged.
Swansea have always managed to give Arsenal a hard time on the field as the Welsh side once again made it hard for the Gunners. The first half was a scrappy affair with neither of the sides able to create too many chances. But Swansea perhaps looked the better side when they had the possession.
Arsenal came out stronger in the second half and in the 58th minute youngster Gnabry gave the lead to the away side after finishing off a brilliant move. Aaron Ramsey, who provided the assist for Gnabry in the first goal, quickly doubled Arsenalai??i??s lead in space of four minutes. It was another fantastic team goal with Giroud setting up Ramsey with a wonderful cutback.
Swansea had a go at Arsenal and were eventually able to pull one goal back with left back Ben Davies getting on the score sheet after playing a brilliant one-two with Wilfired Bony. But despite all their effort in the closing stages, Swansea werenai??i??t able to create too many openings and failed to find a equalizer.
Despite the fantastic result, Arsene Wenger remained sceptical about being too optimistic about their title chances and has urged the team to maintain their focus.
