Manchester United are all set to complete the signing of Uruguayan right-back Guillermo Varela.
The 20-year-old was on trial at Old Trafford during the last few weeks of the season, and Varela seemed to have impressed the coaching staff of Manchester United during his stint. United delayed in completing the move as David Moyes as Sir Alexai??i??s successor, David Moyes , was supposed to take the final call.
Manchester United opened talks with Uruguayan giants Penarol last month regarding a transfer fee and now it seems like the negotiations have been successful as the move has entered its final stages. Guillermo Varela will reach England today, along with Penarol official Rodolfo Catino (club treasurer). Catino tweeted from his account few hours back that he is about to board a flight to London, along with Guillermo.

The 20-year-old is set to become the first signing of David Moyesai??i?? era. Italian clubs Udinese and Fiorentina were also interested in signing the youngster, but Varelaai??i??s priority was Manchester United. Interestingly the defenderai??i??s agent, Paul Betancourt, was the one responsible for Gaston Ramirezai??i??s move to Southampton. Varela was yet to break into the Penarol first team, so he is fairly inexperienced. His signing, will mean that another South American full-back, Rafael, will now have competition in the squad, although Varela isnai??i??t expected to make a big impact immediately ai??i?? he is one for the future. The Uruguayan is also expected to represent his nation in the upcoming U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
