Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon is the subject of a transfer interest from Italian club Inter.
Aaron Lennon has been a regular fixture in the Tottenham side since his arrival from Leeds United back in 2005. He has already made over 300 appearances for the London club and last year extended his contract with the club till 2016.
Reports from Italy suggest that Inter are lining up a move for the England international during the summer transfer window. Inter have undergone a poor season in the league and are currently 9th in the Serie A table. The Italian club will look to revamp the squad before the next season as they look to challenge for titles once again. They have already completed the signing of five new players (Mauro Icardi, Diego Laxalt, Hugo Campagnaro, Marco Andreolli and Ruben Botta) for next season.
Inter have been monitoring Lennon for a long time. They were interested in signing the pacey winger last summer as well. Back then reports suggested that both the clubs were in negotiation of a swap deal which would have seen Aaron Lennon arrive at San Siro, while goalkeeper Julio Cesar ending up at the White Hart Lane. But any deal failed to materialize. In fact Lennon reportedly has a lot of admirers in Italy, as Serie A champions Juventus were also linked with him.
It would be interesting to see Tottenhamai??i??s reaction if Inter do table a bid this summer. Spurs, like Inter, will be also looking to strengthen their squad during this transfer window as there is a big possibility of them missing out on Champions League football once again. Of-course the clubai??i??s priority as of now is the secure the immediate future of Gareth Bale, but Lennon is a vital part of the starting line-up as well, and with Bale gradually taking up a more central role, Lennon is perhaps the only out-and-out winger as of now. Also given that Lennon has a long contract, Tottenham wouldnai??i??t be in a hurry to sell him as well.
