Heading into the League Cup semi final first leg clash away at Stoke City, Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that star striker Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of the match.
A hamstring injury had kept Sturridge out of action for quite some time now, but the England international seems to have healed from his ailment. He even tweeted on Boxing Day that he had regained fitness, and is “good to go”.

However, Klop has been cautious with Sturridge, who has been suffering from many injuries of late. Klopp has indicated that he would only play the striker once he is back to full fitness.
“Maybe you have the feeling Daniel has been training with us for the last three weeks. And every day he’s fitter and fitter and fitter but I say ‘No – I wait’. It’s not like this,” Klopp was quoted saying on Sky Sports.
“Daniel has had some problems in these weeks – not serious but then he couldn’t train or make the next session. When he’s had a row of (training) sessions, I will pick him.”
Henderson out of action too
Club captain Jordan Henderson has also been suffering from a heel injury. Like his England and Liverpool FC teammate, Henderson is also on the road to recovery from the injury. However, Klopp has ruled him out of action too, saying that he needs to be patient with the injured players.
“We have to wait. What’s happened with the tendon is good – but it is painful. There is blood around the heel – but we can’t rush it,” said Klopp.
