Paris Saint Germain’s talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has welcomed Angel di Maria to the Parc des Princes stadium, almost confirming the arrival of the 27-year-old Argentine.
Angel di Maria’s future has been the topic of much media speculation, with different sources claiming that an announcement is imminent, after Louis Van Gaal, the Manchester United manager confirmed that Di Maria was not on the flight to United States, on which he along with Marcos Rojo and Javier Hernandez were due to arrive. However, out of the three only Chicharito arrived, as Rojo had some issues with his passport. Van Gaal also failed to provide any reason behind the absence of the Argentine winger, adding that he could not say anything.

PSG, who lost to Chelsea FC yesterday in the International Champions Cup, have reportedly agreed a deal in the region of A?47 million with Manchester United, who had signed the winger, from Real Madrid for a British record fee of A?59.7 million only last year. Speaking to Le Parisien after the game, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was asked about Angel Di Maria, he said:
“Welcome to him (Di Maria), he will bring many qualities. He is a good player and he will make team better.”
According to L’Equipe the winger is expected to undergo a medical in New York, before joining up with his new team-mates in New Jersey on Monday. PSG take on Olympique Lyon in the French Super Cup on the 1st of August, however, the former Madrid man is unlikely to play a part in the game, due to his extended holidays for playing with Argentina in the Copa America.

Di Maria joined the Red Devils after just winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and much was expected of the talented Argentine, however, the 27-year-old never got into his stride at Old Trafford and injuries prevented the record signing from hitting best form, as he was eventually benched towards the end of the season, bringing an end to a terrible first season in a much more physical English league. His departure only after a season, may raise a few eyebrows, but in the end it’s one in the best interest of everyone involved. Di Maria would run-riot in the French league, while he struggled due to the physicality of the English League.
