FC Goa manager Zico is confident that his team will reach the final of the Indian Super League despite their 1-0 loss to Delhi Dynamos in the first leg of the semi final on Friday.

Robin Singh’s header at the end of the first half gave the Delhi Dynamos their first ever win against FC Goa as they head into the 2nd leg at the Fatorda stadium on 15th December with a one goal lead.

Singh got ahead of his marker (Lucio) and headed in from close range after wonderful work on the right hand flank by Gustavo Dos Santos. The Brazilian winger, who hasn’t started many matches this year, made most of his opportunity and put in a stellar display against FC Goa.

Zico confident of reaching the final

Speaking to the media after his side’s first ever defeat to the Delhi Dynamos, Zico appeared confident of making the final of the Indian Super League despite suffering a setback in the first leg of the semi final.

“I dont consider as a loss,” said Zico. “It is a game of 180 minutes and we have 90 more to reverse the situation. Of course, Delhi Dynamos have the advantage now. But we will try our best to beat them in Goa.”

“It is not about tactics. We were the first team to beat the Dynamos in Delhi this season 5 days ago. We will prepare ourselves. Our team played well and we will head to Goa confident [of overturning the deficit].”

Asked whether he set up his team defensively against the Dynamos, Zico replied, “I am never happy when my team is losing. I got in Bikramjit to mark Malouda so that it can release other players such as Rafael and Moura.”

“This [FC Goa starting XI] is just about options. I have 26 players and I can choose to play any of them.”

.

Asked about the injury status of Raju Gaikwad who hobbled off in the first half after suffering an injury, Zico said, “Raju has a muscle problem. We are assessing him but may not play in the 2nd leg.”

FULL-TIME & first leg didn’t end the way the Gaurs wanted, but they will surely come back at Fatorda! Score: Delhi 1 – 0 FC Goa #DELvGOA
