Wenger wants Arsenal FC to show they have ‘moved forward’ when they take on German giants Bayern Munich

The Gunners have been in impressive form of late, and manager ArsA?ne Wenger has asked his side to show they have truly progressed when they take on Champions League favourites Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday

Despite their impressive 2-0 win over the Bundesliga giants on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League, Arsenal FC face an uphill battle to qualify for the knock-out rounds of the competition. The Gunners have 3 points from as many games, with Bayern Munich and Olympiakos on 6 points each.

A result against the German champions would greatly increase the chances ArsA?ne Wenger’s men have of going through, and the French manager has challenged his team to show that they have “moved forward” when they take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Wenger insists overcoming difficult weeks will give his side belief

Arsenal FC are looking like Premier League title contenders on current form, and the Frenchman believes that overcoming difficult periods in the past has given his side a new-found belief. Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game, Wenger is quoted by the official club website as saying:

“Recently, every week was absolutely important and we have done well. I think ita s more to continue to develop as a team and to focus to win every single game. Wea ve done that until now. We had difficult weeks before. We have done well so that should give us belief. We have another big game tomorrow so leta s just go game by game and focus on that.

“I dona t want to take anything away from Bayern. They are doing extremely well, they are playing well. I think ita s a good opportunity for us to show that wea ve moved forward and are up to the test we face tomorrow.”

Guardiola was interested in signing for Arsenal FC

Interestingly, Wenger also revealed that the Bayern Munich manager wanted to play under him at Arsenal FC. The Frenchman failed to recall why the move fell through, but did remember that Guardiola showed “great personality” when they talked.

The Gunners’ manager was quoted by the Guardian . as saying: “He wanted to play with me as a coach. I met him at home when he was 30, 31. He wanted to play for Arsenal. I cana t remember why it didna t happen.

a I had players like [Patrick] Vieira and [Emmanuel] Petit, who were still young then. He showed great personality when we talked. What I admire about him is that his team play very positively.”
