The former England and Liverpool FC captain had clarified this earlier, saying that he does not need to prove that he is good enough to play in the Premier League any more, as he has already retired from the national team.
He has only joined his former Liverpool FC teammates at Melwood to keep himself keep fit during the off season, which has come a bit early for the LA Galaxy players, as their team has failed to qualify for the MLS playoffs.
