Urging the club to sign a top forward was a recurring theme among the Arsenal FC fanbase as well as former players. Despite that, those cries fell on deaf ears and the Gunners ended the transfer window without bringing in any outfield players with goalkeeper Petr Cech their only signing. Former defender Martin Keown was not too pleased and said that the failure to bring a forward will cost Arsenal FC.

A lot of people were touting Arsenal FC as title challengers after they secured the signature of Petr Cech and beat Chelsea FC in the Community Shield.
However, an indifferent start to the season that sees them 5 points adrift of leaders Manchester City already couple with the clear lack of a constant goal-scoring threat in their ranks, has seen the optimism fade away.
Martin Keown, along with a host of former Arsenal players were urging the club to sign a new forward before the window shuts.
