Former Benfica star and Liverpool FC loanee Lazar Markovic was on hand to assist the only goal of the game for Fenerbahce in what has hardly been a fruitful time for the young Serb.
Markovic struggled to settle in life at Merseyside, with the Reds’ then manager Brendan Rodgers often accused of not playing the Serb in the right position.
However, a change of scenery in a lesser league is hardly having a better impact on his performances.
Markovic has started just six of the 10 games that Fenerbahce have played in the Turkish league this season, grabbing just one assist and no goals.
However, the assist in Fenerbahce’s 1-0 win at the weekend will come as a welcome boost for the youngster, who must start performing in his loan spell if he has to have any chance of establishing himself as a first team regular at Anfield in the near future.
