Football is a constantly-evolving sport, and managers and players are constantly coming up with ploys to outsmart their opponents, and we saw one such move on Tuesday night, as Gent earned a 2-1 victory at Lyon.
However, what really caught the eye was the free-kick routine that Gent used to level the scores at 1-1 on the night. This free kick routine seems to have been conceived in the training ground.
While Danijel Milicevic stepped up to take a free kick from the edge of the area, three of his Gent teammates formed a wall right in front of the ball, obstructing the Lyon players from getting a proper view of the ball.
As the referee blew his whistle, the three players darted towards the Lyon goal, creating a diversion, as Milicevic expertly curled the ball into the top corner.
Here is a video of the goal.
