Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has admitted that he felt frustrated last season, when he was used on the right wing by Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti.

However, new boss Rafa Benitez is playing Bale in his preferred central position and the Welshman is very happy. Bale insists that he prefers to play centrally as he did at Tottenham Hotspur and as he does for the Welsh national team.

Bale had a below par last season, when he failed to live up to his a 100 million price tag and was often booed by the Santiago Bernabeu faithful.

.

He added that playing centrally allows him to get more involved in the game and the Welshman feels that the more he is involved with the ball, the more he can help create for the team.

The Welshman has scored twice in three games and also set up one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s five goals against Espanyol. Real Madrid take on Shakhtar Donetsk tonight in the Champions League and Bale will be looking to make his mark.

Here’s the video of Gareth Bale speaking to BT Sport:
