Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger was furious in his post-match press conference following the 3-2 loss at the hands of Olympiakos in the second round of Champions League group stage.
The Gunners suffered a shock loss and goalkeeper David Ospina had to shoulder the blame for a howler when Olympiakos scored their second goal. The Colombian caught an in-swinging corner, before dropping it on the ground, only to realize that the ball had crossed the line when he dropped it. The fourth official present near the goal in Champions League matches, awarded the goal to Olympiakos.
Most of the post-match questions were targeted by Wenger’s decision to drop goalkeeper Petr Cech in favour of David Ospina for a must win game. The Gunners would now require to get results against Bayern Munich, who they face in the next two matches.
Wenger started the conference defending his shot-stopper, suggesting even Petr Cech could have made that mistake, but was soon infuriated and refused to provide with an explanation for his selection. The Frenchman added that he did not require to provide an explanation to the press for every decision that he made.
