Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger is hopeful ahead of the decision by the FA on Brazilian defender Gabriel. Even though the defender’s red card was rescinded, he still faces charges for his failure to leave the pitch after being sent off.
The defender has been handed a one match ban with immediate effect for improper conduct following his wrongful dismissal. The 24-year-old will miss the clash against Leicester City.
Arsenal FC appealed successfully against the red card to Gabriel and the FA overturned the three-game ban on the 24-year-old. The defender was sent off for getting involved in an altercation between Diego Costa and his teammate Laurent Koscielny, during the Gunners’s trip to Chelsea FC last weekend.
The Frenchman complained that the poor refereeing during the game resulted in his side playing the game 10 against 11, while the opposite of which should ideally have been the case in retrospect of the FA’s decision. Wenger insisted that he would prefer the referee’s making the correct call during the game than the FA interfering and later correcting those mistakes.
