Barcelona will face Bayern Munich, while Juventus will play Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
Defending champions Real Madrid have probably drawn the most favourable team, as they will be facing Italian champions Juventus en route to the Champions League final. The two teams last met in the semi-final stage of the competition in 2003 when the Italian side managed to beat Real Madrid 4-3 on aggregate to make it to the final. Coincidentally, the Spanish club were defending their European championsa status back in 2003 as well.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have drawn Bayern Munich in the other semi-final. The last time these two teams met in the semi-final stage of the competition was in 2013 and Jupp Heycknesa Bayern Munich simply destroyed Barcelona over two legs with a 7-0 aggregate scoreline. The German side then went on to win the Champions League after beating Borussia Dortmund in the final.
The first leg of both the semi-finals will be played on 5th and 6th of May, while the second leg will be played a week later on 12th and 13th of May. The four semi-finalists share 21 European championships amongst them.
Barcelona last won the Champions League under Pep Guardiola in 2011 and now the Spaniard will face his former club as he manages Bayern Munich, who last won it in 2013. Juventusa last Champions League victory came in 1996 and they now face the champions of 2014 in Real Madrid. Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, will also be plotting to beat his former club Juventus, as he will look to make it through to the final second time in a row.
The semi-final draw has opened up the possibility of an all-Spanish final to take place for a second time in a row.
